Organisation and Management
 |
The Choir is run by an
elected Committee of members that is responsible for all administrative and
financial aspects of the Choir's operation. Many other Choir members are
involved in helping rehearsals, concerts and social events run smoothly. |
 |
The musical side of the Choir is in the
capable hands of its Musical Director, Walter (Wattie) Thomson. Wattie has
the final say on all musical content, rehearsal and presentation. |
 |
The Choir itself is organised into the
normal vocal parts - Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass with subdivisions for
pieces requiring 6 or 8 parts. Anyone interested in joining the Choir will
be auditioned by Wattie to determine their level of musical ability and
into which part they might best fit. The entire Choir is re-auditioned at
intervals to help maintain the overall standard. |
|
 |
Choir Finance
 |
The Choir is entirely self-funding and
does, from time to time, help to raise money for local churches and
charities. Members pay a modest annual subscription and are committed to
selling tickets for the two main concerts but all music is provided free of
charge. The Choir owns a large library of choral music and borrows or hires
other pieces as required. |

Rehearsals
 |
Rehearsals take place in the main hall of
St. Columba's Church of Scotland on Hillhouse Road, Blackhall. The Choir
rehearses from September through to May on most Sunday evenings from 7.30pm
to about 9.30pm. There is normally at least one orchestral rehearsal before
any major concert. |
