Recent Concerts …

Every year, we perform our very popular Christmas concert, as well as singing carols at charity events.
Below is a list of other concerts we have given in the last few years:

2017

13th May

Handel’s “Israel in Egypt”. The choir was accompanied by the Edinburgh Players with soloists Emma Versteeg and Florence Russell, soprano, Catherine Backhouse, contralto, Stuart Mitchell, tenor and Phil Gault and Hugh Hillyard Parker, bass. St Cuthbert’s Parish Church.

2016

30th April

Vaughan Williams “Dona Nobis Pacem” and Dvořák’s “Te Deum”. Other works by Haydn, Kalinnikoff, Rachmaninoff and Parry. This was our final concert under the baton of Walter Thomson. The choir was accompanied by the Edinburgh Players with soloists Susan McNaught, soprano and Benjamin Ellis, baritone. St Cuthbert’s Parish Church.

2015

30th May

Midday Musical Cocktails. A sparkling cocktail of music from around the world with interludes from pianist John Willmett and soprano Gillian Robertson. St Andrew’s and St George’s West.

28th March

Brahms German Requiem with the Edinburgh Players, soprano Susan McNaught and baritone Ivor Klayman. St Cuthbert’s Parish Church.

2014

31st May

Charity Concert – Bernstein, Beatles and Black Sheep with Katharine Wake, flute and John Willmett, piano.

5th April

Handel’s Dettingen Te Deum and Bach’s Magnificat in D with the Edinburgh Players, sopranos Lesley Bruce and Susan McNaught, contralto Carole Clarke, baritone Warren Gillespie and tenor Anders Östberg.

2013

9th November

Edinburgh Festival of Remembrance in the Usher Hall with the Phoenix Band.

25th May

Haydn’s Creation with the Edinburgh Players, soprano Jennifer Craig, tenor Ralph Strehle and baritone Ivor Klayman. St Cuthbert’s Church.

24th February

Verdi Requiem with the Bach Choir, Broughton High School Senior Choir and Scottish Sinfonia. Usher Hall.

2012

11th August

Fringe Concert including works by Vaughan Williams, Wood, Ireland, Parry, Bruckner, Saint Saens, Stanford, Britten. Greyfriars Kirk.

27th May

Fun Outdoor Floral Concert. A programme with a ‘nature’ theme including works by Stanford, Thorpe Davies, Coombs, Saint Saens and others. Royal Botanic Gardens.

31st March

Handel’s Messiah with the Edinburgh Players, soprano Susan McNaught, contralto Katrine Townhill, tenor Jonathan Cooke and baritone Ivor Klayman. St Cuthbert’s Church.
