On Friday 14th and Saturday 15th June, Jubilo were delighted to present concerts together with the Brecon Singers from south Wales. On Friday, the main work was Faure’s Requiem which was performed beautifully by the joint choirs along with soloists Madeleine Gill and Alan Rowland and organist Phillip Coad. A lighter programme on Saturday was brought to a resounding conclusion with a medley of Oscar and Hammerstein show tunes with Phil Coad, on this occasion, expertly tinkling the ivories.
The Spring Concert, featuring John Ireland’s longest choral work, “These Things Shall Be”, was a resounding success. Opening with Handel’s stirring “Zadok the Priest”, and including popular pieces by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Parry and Goodall, the concert showed off the choir and The Edinburgh Players at their very best. Contributions from soloists Sally Carr and William Frost and organist Philip Coad complimented the choral sound perfectly.
